Why would I need this test?

Different people take this test for different reasons.
For instance, a dark skinned child may come from a light skinned family, which may lead the child to assume that he or she had different parents, when another possibility is that African blood simply runs in the family.
A successfully done test would dispel the child's or anyone else's speculations with the truth, putting the question of paternity and maternity to rest.

Some people of African descent may also take this test in order to determine their exact roots.
It may answer the question of how their ancestors arrived in America. See, when you undergo African DNA testing, parts of your family tree may be revealed to you, information that may completely change your notion of your ancestors.
Any light-skinned person can have African roots.
Another reason to take this test is to find those roots.
After the test, you will be given the exact percentage of your DNA with African ethnicity.
Not only that, it can also determine the other ethnic roots in your DNA, such as Native American, Indo-European, East Asian, or whatever your ethnicity is.

How does it work?

We will not attempt a complete explanation of the process here, as that may be difficult to understand for those without a background in genetics or biology.
We will try to explain it as simply as we can. This is African
DNA testing in a nutshell.

After collecting a sample of your DNA, it will be analyzed for your ethnic roots. See, our DNA carries unique patterns that come from both our father and mother.
These patterns not only differ with each person, but also with each race. Determining the existence of these patterns on points of your DNA can then determine which race or races you come from.
